3 Cups of tea a day...
According to a published study in the UK Nutrition Bulletin drinking 3-5 cups of tea a day lowers the risk of heart disease by 30 - 57 percent.. The researchers, Dr. Carrie Ruxton and Pamela Mason, report that " the antioxidant flavonoids and theanine found in tea help maintain the produciton of nitric oxide essential to the health of arteries, also help control blood pressure, and inhibits clots in the blood.. "
Easy prescription to follow..I'd say..
Apples, Foliage, and Tea
Plenty of apple picking right now.. a wonderful thing to do! Enjoy the changing leaves, pick some apples.. maybe bake a pie.. a perfect cup to brew with that is Maple tea..
Or if you're going to a Firehouse in your neighborhood for a Pancake Breakfast.. why not bring along a carafe of Hot Cinnamon Spice for everyone to enjoy..
Changing Tastes...
The leaves are not the only things changing this time of year, here in the Hudson Valley... preferences for tea change too... This past weekend Lapsang Souchong was in big demand.. a tea to bring the flavor of wood fire into the cup..
A surprise blend in demand this weekend was a rooibos with cranbury and orange, known as African Autumn ... and for our Daily Tasting offer we brewed up the Holiday blend, which we had to replenish, seemingly, just moments after the last pot was made.. !!
Was a perfect weekend for the Sheep Festival in Rhinebeck, crisp air inspriring to knitters and weavers.. as well as for all of us looking for wooly warmth..
